Freewrite on a Single Skill__Draft #1 of Literacy Narrative
Psalms 91:1 "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the
Almighty." was the verse I read before closing my bible. Being in the presence of God is like being
surrounded by love. The air feels clearer, the sky looks brighter, you can smell the flowers blooming. I’m
proud and confident to say that a skill I “acquired” was being a gospel preacher. I was born into a
Christian family. I remember we would go to church every Sunday and I would sit in the not so comfy
long old benches. All the grannies and uncles would walk down the aisle to their seats. They would always
have one of these white dresses that sort of resemble wedding dresses. The dress I was forced to put on
would itch against my skin. When the preacher would preach the only thing, I could understand was the
word “GOD!” Everything else to me was boring. It went through one ear and out the other. As you can
see, I wasn’t the best Christian in the world. I mean I was only 12 years old at the time. This went on until
the year 2020 where COVID came, and everybody was quarantined. During what I thought was a “mini
vacation” I discovered Christian TikTok. I especially remember a guy named David Latting who would
post these bible videos that really convicted me. He’s the one that inspired me to get closer to God and
take my life with God seriously. I started to read the bible and spread the gospel on TikTok. And years
later I am still doing the same thing except I’m far closer to God and I preach the gospel on TikTok,
snapchat, and YouTube. You might be thinking how is this benefiting me? Well let me tell you. God saved
me from so much. He saved me from depression, suicide, anxiety, and negativity. He gave me so many
blessings that made me the God-fearing woman that I am today. If it wasn’t for me letting God into my
life I wouldn’t be where I am today. I don’t even think I would be here at all if I'm being very honest.
So, I thank God for the events that happened in my life that allowed me to become the person that I am today.
