Title: Teens should not be sentenced to adult prison

Topic: Teens and Adult Prison

Introduction: What would you do if you saw a 13-year-old in an adult prison? How would that make you feel? In the New York justice system teens who commit serious crimes can be sentenced as adults. Now I know some of you reading this might think that those kids deserve it. If you do the crime, you serve the time, but I think differently.

Thesis: I think that teens who commit crimes shouldn't be sentenced to adult prison. Going to an adult prison that young can badly alter their mind. There should be more programs to help kids who commit crimes and more positive police involvement to help keep teens off the streets and from doing crime.

Reasons:

1. It can badly affect the teenage mind going into an adult prison at such a young age.

2. We should focus on rehabilitation instead of punishment. Sending a kid to adult prison isn't rehabilitating them.

3. There should be more and better prisons and police involvement to help keep kids off the streets and from doing crimes.
